Global Partnerships and Initiatives Program
The Global Initiative, one of six strategic milestones that the University will pursue as it charts its Path to Prominence, "will expand our global reach and strengthen our global partnerships for study and research", extending UD's role, visibility, and impact at the international level. In the spirit of The Global Initiative, the Office of the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and International Programs and the Center for International Studies are requesting proposals which promote, encourage, and support the development of initiatives which expand and strengthen UD's strategic partnerships around the world. We are especially interested in partnerships with institutions of higher education in China, India, South Korea, and in Latin America/Caribbean, although other regions around the world will also be considered. It is envisioned that activities stimulated by these funds will create revenue streams that enable the program, following this seed funding, to be self-sustaining. Preference will be given to proposals with Universities that UD has already identified as partners and activities which fall under the following categories:
Global Studies: Develop and expand UD's global studies programs. Specific areas to be funded, at the graduate and undergraduate level, include developing new study abroad programs, service learning initiatives, and other scholarly activities for UD students and faculty. This might include funding to support activities like joint research/scholarly conferences, workshops and/or colloquia at UD. Proposals which will result in active engagement and interaction between faculty and students at UD; partner institutions will receive priority.
Signature Academic Programs: Development of signature academic programs such as global studies certificate programs and multi-disciplinary undergraduate and graduate programs. Proposals aimed at developing joint academic programs between UD and our strategic partners will receive priority. Funding can also be provided for international visiting scholars to cover transportation, lodging, and other related expenses for short periods of time when visits are related to the development of sustainable, joint academic initiatives.
Joint Research Programs: Development of joint research initiatives with institutional partners. These initiatives should have high potential for external support to sustain the proposed research effort. Funding will be provided for international visiting scholars to cover transportation, lodging, and other related expenses for short periods of time when funding is related to the development of sustainable, joint research initiatives. Interdisciplinary research initiatives will receive priority.

(If you have to include a Global Partnership and Agreement Proposal, you may use the same support letters, but please ask Chairs and Deans to address the specific activities identified in this proposal in terms of the support they are willing to provide).
To be considered, all proposals must have some matching contribution, either in actual funds or in-kind, from the Department, College, or relevant unit.
