Awarded in 2000 to UD by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, this project aims to support and strengthen women's advocacy groups in the rural areas of Kyrgyzstan-particularly in the area of conflict resolution. In May 2002, after a 10-month delay due to the events of September 11, the final in-country phase of this project was completed, with a UD team visiting several regions of Kyrgyzstan. The final project report will be submitted to the Dept. of State in early fall 2002.
