Study Abroad - On-line Application
Rules and Responsibilities

Thanks for your interest in studying abroad with the University of Delaware! Living and learning in another place can be a great opportunity, and we want to make sure that it fulfills your expectations, hopes, and dreams. Before you apply, please read this important information about UD's study abroad programs:

  • We take study abroad seriously, and expect you to do the same. The "study" component of your trip takes precedence over sightseeing and social activities, and that includes being on time and prepared for your classes and related excursions. There will also be plenty of cultural exploration and leisure, as part of your coursework and in your free time.

  • When you study abroad with UD, you're expected to adhere to the University's Code of Conduct. All students (including those from other institutions) are expected to read and agree to abide by this document before participating in one of our programs. We have you do this so that you know what we expect, what to do to stay healthy and safe while traveling, and what will ensure that you and everyone else involved with your trip are treated with respect and consideration.

  • In addition, you're expected to adhere to all local and national laws of the country(ies) in which you'll study. If those laws permit behavior which is prohibited by the University of Delaware Code of Conduct, remember that you've agreed to abide by both. Remember also that paying attention to cultural norms is essential, and carry yourself in a way that adheres to local custom.

  • Also, please note that students are prohibited from applying to study abroad programs while they are under suspension from the University, even if the program will not take place until the suspension has ended. If you are currently suspended, you are welcome to apply to a program after you have been readmitted.

These rules, regulations, and recommendations are set up for your benefit, as a participant, and for the benefit of your fellow students, faculty and/or resident directors, and host families and institutions. We place a high value on your safety, health, and positive experiences overseas, but you, too, must do your part. We want to make sure that you get the most, academically and socially, out of your study abroad experience.

When applying to study abroad, you commit to following both the UD Code of Conduct and host country laws/norms.
