For Faculty - Once Approved
Return to Checklist: Winter / Summer
Course Registration:

Acceptance into a study abroad program does NOT mean automatic registration for its courses! Remind your UD students to register for courses on their own, at the same time and in the same way as if they were studying on campus. Non-UD students will receive special registration instructions from our office.

Faculty directors should check class rosters to make sure that students have registered. Rosters for overseas courses are sent to departments directly from the Registrar's office.

Some selected courses may be taken for Honors credit. Honors credit must be approved by the Associate Director of University Honors, and the student is responsible for securing this approval prior to departure. Honors and CFIS have a form for this approval process. Discuss Honors requests with students before heading overseas, so that you can develop and agree upon appropriate assignments.

Students pursuing independent study projects with faculty members in Newark are responsible for clarifying all course arrangements before departure. Independent study projects are typically not taken in lieu of a regular (core) course offered in the program.

IMPORTANT: Be prepared for changes in class sizes during drop/add. Once the group is abroad, email or fax course schedule changes to CFIS (fax: 302-831-6042). Schedule changes for programs sponsored by the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures will be handled by Marion Bernard (phone: 831-6458; fax 831-0597) in that department.
