Study Abroad - Once Accepted
Return to Checklist: Fall / Winter / Spring / Summer
Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What if I'm not accepted into the program, do I get my deposit back?

Yes, automatically. If you're a UD student, the deposit will be refunded to your UD student account. If you're a non-UD student, we will mail a check to your home address.

Q: If I'm accepted into the program, but cannot go (for personal or medical reasons), what should I do? Do I get my non-refundable deposit back?

Details about how to withdraw from study abroad are available here.

Q: How do I pay for program fees? Can I make payments with a credit card?

If you're a UD student, go to the Cashiers Office (Student Services Building) to make program fee payments. If you're a student from another institution, mail your program fee payments to CFIS or FLL. About credit cards, the answer is NO. The University only accepts checks, cash or money orders as payment for study abroad program fees.

Q: Where should my parents send the checks?

If you're a UD student, do NOT have your parents send us a payment check. They should send the check to you, and you should make the payment in person at Student Services. Non-UD students should send their checks to CFIS or FLL.

Q: Can I pay for my program fee with financial aid?

The answer is both no and yes. No, you cannot use financial aid towards the first and second deposits. But yes, you can pay the balance of your program fee and tuition with financial aid. Check with the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid (302-831-8081) first to make sure that you’ll have enough aid available, and then read here for details on what to do.
