Study Abroad - Once Accepted
Return to Checklist: Fall / Winter / Spring / Summer
Inquire About Visas:

If you are not a U.S. citizen, and need a visa, it is your responsibility to research and complete all necessary paperwork.

  1. Contact the consulate office for each country you will be visiting (www.embassy.org) to see what forms, payments, or supplementary material you may need to submit.
  2. Contact CFIS if you need "official proof of participation" in study abroad. We will print you a letter on our letterhead.
  3. Call Foreign Student and Scholar Services at 302-831-2115 (or, for non-UD students, the equivalent office on your campus) to make sure you complete any procedures for getting back into the U.S. when your program is over.
  4. Keep your faculty director informed about this process.

If you are on a program which requires visas for U.S. citizens, watch for email instructions from your faculty directors and program coordinator.
