Study Abroad - Programs
Winter 2004
Ecuador & the Galapagos FLLT
January 1, 2004 - February 8, 2004

Please note that this program has an early application and first deposit deadline of September 3, 2003.

Program Overview

"Study in Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands: learn by living the adventure!" Ecuador is one of the most beautiful and ecologically diverse countries in South America. From the equatorial coast to the Andean peaks, Ecuador offers the opportunity to study various ecosystems, and to improve all aspects of spoken and written Spanish. You'll learn about Ecuador's past and present; the program includes trips to the Incan ruins of IngaPirca and the Monument to the Middle of the World, at the Equator.

Students will be based in historic Quito, Ecuador's capital and its second largest city. In Quito, students will live with host families and take classes at the Universidad Catolica. They will also visit the Amazon basin and travel the Pan-American highway to Cuenca. The excursion in the Galapagos Islands will last 5-7 days, where students will visit the Charles Darwin Research Station and have the opportunity to snorkel and scuba dive. Students taking the scuba course will be expected to pay the cost of equipment rental (regulator, BCD, mask, fins, snorkel and wet suit).
