Program Overview
This study abroad program for MBA students consists of tours of business organizations in Grenoble and Paris, France, and in London, England. Tours generally include manufacturing firms, service firms and government agencies. Some of the organizations we have visited in the past include Amstel Brewery and General Electric in Hungary; Bull Computer, Caterpillar Tractor, and Schneider Electric in France; and Seat Automobiles and the Chamber of Commerce in Spain. Lectures on culture, international business, and problem solving in marketing and operations management are also given on campus and abroad. Students will be required to evaluate organizations we visit as well as other organizations that serve us as customers such as airlines, hotels, restaurants, trains, etc., from a balanced scorecard perspective. The emphasis will be placed on issues with quality, productivity and marketing. Students will also be required to propose solution strategies for areas where organizations need improvement. The program is of two week duration; students are then given the opportunity to travel for an additional week individually.
Please note: The program fee for this year's program does not include airfare to/from Europe. Students will be responsible for getting to and from the program location independently. We estimate the cost of the plane ticket to be between $500-600, although you may be able to find a better individual fare.
UD students pay all program fee deposits by direct bank transfer via this website: http://www.udel.edu/studyabroadpayments. Non-UD students should send a check, payable to the University of Delaware, to CFIS, Elliott Hall, 26 East Main Street, Newark, DE 19716. Credit card payments are not accepted.
