Study Abroad - Programs
Summer 2004
Florence, Italy
June 8, 2004 - July 18, 2004

Program Overview

Spend Summer Session in and around Florence, Italy, and experience the region’s art, architecture and sun-bathed countryside. Florence was at the very heart of the Renaissance and at the core of the conventions of contemporary representational painting, and produced artists such as da Vinci, Botticelli, Michelangelo, Giotto and Fra Angelico.

You'll have the chance to develop your own painting skills by working in the studios of Santa Reparata International School of Art with Florence and Tuscany providing unparalled sources of inspiration. You'll also attend slide lectures and discussions, and visit Florence's many museums and cultural sites to examine Renaissance masterworks firsthand.

Florence offers the opportunity to explore such cultural and artistic treasures such as the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore along with Giotto's Campanile, the Uffizi Gallery, the Pitti Palace and accompanying Boboli Gardens, the Ponte Vecchio, and the Medici Palace and Chapels. The stay in Italy will include tours of some of the most beautiful hill towns in Tuscany, a day or two in Venice, and a few days to see Rome and Vatican City.

Students will be put up in various apartments, which are all centrally located in Florence, and fully equipped. Utilities are included, but telephones are not. Each unit can house between three and five students. In Florence, students will have unlimited Internet access (included in the program fee).
