Study Abroad - Programs
Winter 2005
Australia/N.Zealand NURS/WOMS
January 1, 2005 - February 2, 2005

Please note that this program has an early application and first deposit deadline of March 19, 2004.

Program Overview

Experience an opportunity for personal contact through a contextual understanding of the history, the people, and some of the traditions of Australians - an eclectic mix of individuals from over 140 nations - and New Zealanders, whose total population is roughly equivalent to that of the city of Melbourne.

Through observations, field work, class and other experiences, become familiar with the Australian and New Zealand national health systems and healthcare of women. Explore women's health issues from a "down under" global perspective while evaluating and improving your own health issues. Learn how women experience their religious identity and share it for generations to come as you explore four major cities - Sydney, Melbourne, Cairns, and Auckland.

Enjoy the best of Australian and New Zealand's rich multicultural societies. Formal classes will initially meet Monday through Friday at Trinity College in the University of Melbourne, where students will also be housed while in Australia. Informal learning in the only country occupying an entire continent will occur daily in a variety of excursions surrounding Melbourne. Classes will reconvene in New Zealand with ample opportunity for more exploration of both the southern and northern islands.
