Winter 2005

Please note that this program is highly competitive and will accept only a limited number of applicants.
Please note that this program has an early application and first deposit deadline of April 30, 2004.

Program Overview

Are you ready to learn about organizations, leadership and social responsibility in other cultures? Through this Winter Session in Australia and Fiji you will develop your appreciation for what it means to live and work in culturally diverse societies. During this study abroad program, you will learn how to assess cross-cultural differences in organizational leadership, while developing insight into your own leadership style. You will examine how social responsibilty helps influence policy and organizational direction.

To accomplish this, you will need to gain a new perspective on how American viewpoints are considered, as you learn about different organizations and leadership styles and as you consider compelling challenges facing people and organizations. Speakers from the business, non-profit and governmental sectors will help explain how their organizations are structured, how they define leadership and explain how it social responsibility plays into the decisions they make.

In addition to coursework, you will have the chance to explore Southern Australia with trips to:

  • Adelaide - Kangaroo Island, see koalas and kangaroos in the wild
  • Warnambool - Coorong National Park
  • Melbourne - via the Great Ocean Road
  • Beechworth - Mt. Kosciuszko National Park
  • Canberra - Capital buildings
  • Sydney - Ku-Ring-Gai Chase National Park
  • Port Douglass - the Great Barrier Reef, Aboriginal Culture Center, and a rainforest/waterfall expedition

Students will be housed in hotels, most meals are on your own.
