Program Overview
Join us to experience the society, cultures and history of Australia and New Zealand through film, literature and real life. Flying into Sydney, we'll give ourselves 2 days to recover from jet lag and to explore this fascinating city before traveling to Canberra, the nation's capital.
In
Canberra, we'll visit Screensound Australia (a museum of the Australian film industry), the National Museum of Australia, and the National Zoo and Aquarium, establishing a background for our studies at the University of Melbourne's Trinity College. Our stay in Melbourne will include one over-night expedition to Philp Island National Park and Port Campbell.
Flying on to Wellington, New Zealand, we'll continue our class work, beginning with a visit to Te Papa Museum of New Zealand and a tour of Lord of the Rings related sites. Then it's across the North Island to Rotorua, center of Maori culture, where we'll visit the Whakarewarea Thermal Village and Reserve and participate in an hangi, the traditional Maori feast.
Traveling overland, our journey takes us to our last destination, Auckland, where our studies and explorations will conclude.
In both Australia and New Zealand, time will be available for individually planned expedition tailored to our own interests.
