Program Overview
Sydney, Australia and Los Angeles boast significant cultural opportunities both in visual design and communication media. On this program you'll develop an understanding of this relationship. by spending a few days in Los Angeles on the way to Sydney.
You’ll take three courses, in which museum, gallery, and architecture visits will bring you face to face with art works and design as an integral component of hands-on art projects for non art majors. The streets of Sydney and Los Angeles will come alive as a resource for understanding mass communication and culture. Both cities provide many opportunities for a service learning project.
About the LIFE Program: LIFE draws freshmen together in the classroom as well as the residence facility, and provides faculty and peer mentorship in both spheres. Courses are linked by an academic theme; co-curricular activities such as field trips and speakers are offered. LIFE students also develop a collaborative project that helps connect their academic study with out-of-class experiences. Freshmen students may participate in LIFE Australia with or without enrollment in the LIFE Program during the fall semester.
Please note: special scholarship funding is available for this program. LIFE Study Abroad Scholarships are intended to fund academically talented, 1st semester freshmen UD students who otherwise would not be able to afford to study abroad. Financial need will be determined by the Office of Financial Aid, so make sure that you have a current FAFSA form on-file.
