Program Overview

Study multinational firms in Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong. We will compare and contrast the issues surrounding businesses in sparsely populated and isolated Australia and New Zealand to those of heavily populated and accessible Hong Kong. Both depend heavily on telecommunications for education and business. In visiting companies in these three countries, students will see first-hand the importance of global IT issues. This is an exciting time for the world-wide accounting profession as the USA begins to adopt international financial reporting standards (IFRS).

Based in Sydney and Adelaide, you will interact with local business leaders as we visit multinational firms. In addition to learning about business, we will focus on the fragility of their environments. Our side trips will include the Blue Mountains and Jenolan Caves, we will attempt the Sydney Bridge climb and tour the world famous Opera House. We will contrast Sydney with Adelaide, the home of Rupert Murdoch. In New Zealand we will take a walking tour of Christchurch and visit a sheep farm that uses RFID technology. Then on to Hong Kong, one of financial centers of the world and one of the most densely populated areas.

Students will reside in double rooms in dormitories, with some meals provided. Where possible, we will use public transportation.
