To be considered for this scholarship award (along with the Global Scholars Awards), follow the instructions outlined here.

Program Overview

Participants on the Buenos Aires program will be able to experience the rich and varied culture of the cosmopolitan Argentine capital--home to the tango and internationally-acclaimed writer Jorge Luis Borges. Buenos Aires is packed with interesting places and diverse neighborhoods to visit, and boasts many beautiful parks and lively "confiterías", or cafés.

A weekend excursion is planned to the magnificent Iguazu Falls on Argentina's northern border, with a side trip into Brazil. Another excursion will take us to Mendoza in western Argentina where we will explore the Andes and cross the border into Chile. Visits closer to “home” will include a cattle ranch (estancia) in the pampas and a tango show, among many other local sites in Buenos Aires.

The Universidad Católica Argentina (UCA), one of the finest and largest private universities in Argentina, will host the program. Since its foundation in 1958, UCA has been a pioneer in many fields and attracted leading scholars in each academic discipline to its faculty. Its new campus is located in Puerto Madero, an architecturally-acclaimed urban-renewal project in the old port of Buenos Aires. The campus is accessible by bus and metro, and is a short walk from the city's historical and financial districts, yet offers quiet surroundings. It is only a few blocks away from a 1,000-acre natural preserve.

Students reside with Argentine families in private homes.
