Program Overview

Experience culture, create art, and exhibit your work in Berlin. Beginning with a week in Vienna students will experience art from, among others, Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele , works from the Secessionist movement, as well as stunning architecture. The next three weeks will be spent in Berlin, home to a stimulating international artistic community, and currently considered one of the most important contemporary art scenes in the world. Vienna and Berlin are cities rich in cultural history and thriving contemporary art scenes and both provide great opportunities for the young artist and/or intellectually curious.

This is an interrogative travel experience with different approaches to drawing and recording the observed environment (as it relates to cultural and self perception) explored, as well as the production of a report in the form of a journal, artist’s book, blog or website; this work will be assembled by the students for exhibition at a gallery space in Berlin.

Students will be housed in double-occupancy hotels with breakfast included in the program fee.

Courses
Students must enroll in all courses for credit and a grade; pass/fail and audit registration is not permitted.

Honors credit may be available. Check with the faculty director and the Honors program for prior approval (before departure).

All students must enroll in 6 credits, as well as the 0-credit UNIV course.
