This program is closed.

Program Overview Once you have completed the online application, students are required to e-mail Danielle Dolan ( the following:
  1. Resume (please attach evidence that your resume has been reviewed by the UD Career Services Center)
  2. One-page cover letter to potential employers describing your skill set and type of work placement that meets your interests. Make sure the letter is error fee and that you proofread it carefully. Find examples at the UD Career Services Center's website.
Once you have completed the online application, the faculty director will contact you to schedule an interview. As part of the interview process, the faculty director will assess your preparedness using various questions, including the following:

Gain professional business experience by participating in an international 4-week project-based virtual internship program. The internship is an unpaid training position that allows students to gain experience in the growing field of human resources. Students will work in small teams of students, completing a project for a non-profit or a for-profit organization based in one of the following locations: Sydney, Australia; Auckland, New Zealand; Hong Kong, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, or Dublin Ireland.

Drawing on their extensive network of partner organizations, our provider, Global Academic Ventures (GAV), will place students in some of the most prestigious multinational corporations, small and medium-sized businesses, government bodies, nonprofit organizations and community service organizations. Every effort will be made to place students in an internship environment that suits their interests and future career plans. Students will meet periodically in real time with their internship supervisors to receive assignments and feedback, and work on their own and in groups on their assigned projects.

Students will earn three UD credits for the internship experience by enrolling in HDFS 334: Experiential Education, taught online by University of Delaware staff. The class will meet synchronously online with the instructor several times during the winter session but there will also be asynchronous components as well.

The Program Fee includes placement in a major-appropriate internship based on the student’s qualifications, experience, and interest; an online orientation in December, and ongoing academic support by the faculty member during the course of the internship experience.

The Program Fee does not include UD winter session tuition; see costs below. In addition, participants are responsible for maintaining reliable internet connections and for being available for periodic meetings with their supervisors. Given the time differences, these meetings for Pacific locations will likely be in the evenings (for Eastern Standard Time Zone), or in the mornings for those interning with a Europe-based organization.

Acceptance and Scholarships will be announced September 30.
