All applicants must have a valid passport by the program’s application deadline. Your passport’s expiration date must be more than six months after the program ends. If you do not have a current passport, apply through the
U.S. State Department. It takes an average of 10-13 weeks (3-4 months) to process a passport.

Traveling and studying abroad during a global pandemic poses new challenges and requires accepting a higher level of uncertainty than in the past. Students who choose to study abroad at this time must be prepared to adapt to the evolving situation and must take responsibility to act in accordance with the rules, regulations, and recommendations of UD, their program leadership, and legal authorities of their home and host country. Due to the rapidly changing and unpredictable global and local response to COVID-19, these rules, regulations and recommendations are subject to change at any time.Complete your student teaching in Seville, Spain, a beautiful city in the Andalusia region of Spain famous for intricate tile work, old world charm and flamenco dancing. While completing your first 7-week student teaching placement, you’ll be surrounded by historical landmarks including Alcázar castle, the Plaza de Toros de la Maestranza and the Gothic Seville Cathedral.
Student teaching takes place at
Sevilla International College San Francisco de Paula in Sevilla, Spain. San Francisco de Paula’s mission is to provide education based on respect, work and an independent ideology that contributes to happiness, culture, innovation and responsible socio-economic progress. This high-quality educational institution is set apart by unique programs for social and emotional development, early exposure to multiple languages, international respect and tolerance, and academic quality compared to global standards. Set in a beautiful facility with welcoming staff, the collaborative environment encourages all to participate in the educational community. All students are enrolled in a college preparatory program through an American-based curriculum that is designed to respond to the individual needs of all students. The school is accredited by Advanc-ED International Agency, which oversees quality standards in more than 30,000 schools and centers world-wide. All students learn and interact in several languages starting in preschool. However, all instruction given by University of Delaware students will be in English.
This program is a 7-week full-day student teaching experience. No visa is required for students who are U.S. citizens and who visit the country for fewer than 90 days. Students wishing to remain in Greece or the European Union for more than 90 days must apply for and obtain the appropriate visa on their own before departure.
Classroom assignments may range from first through eighth grade, depending on students' needs for certification. Students will participate in the teaching hours and responsibilities of the primary classroom teacher. They will also be assigned an on-site clinical educator and will be supervised by a University of Delaware field instructor via electronic conferencing and video observations. Although no University faculty will accompany the students for the whole time, students have staff available through the Nodis Sevilla housing complex https://nodis.es/en/residencia/nodis-seville-student-residence/ where they will be staying should any problems arise.
The Program Fee includes international health insurance, as well as housing in an individual, furnished room with a kitchen and bathroom near the tram station that can be used to travel to and from the school.
The Program Fee does not include airfare to/from Seville or transportation to and from the airport . The program officially begins when students arrive in Seville. Students will receive detailed travel instructions after acceptance, explaining how and how and where to purchase their plane ticket. See the Cost section below for estimated airfare.

College of Education and Human Development on the administration of this program.

Courses: All students must enroll in the 0-credit course UNIV 550 (placeholder for this travel study experience) and UNIV 372 (Discovery Learning marker). All students enroll in two sections of EDUC 400 (1 for international and 1 for domestic) and one section of EDUC 433 for spring semester. Listed above are the two courses that are related to study abroad. The additional domestic section for EDUC 400 will be provided to you separately.

When and how do I pay?If you are offered acceptance to the program, you will have 3 days to withdraw without financial penalty. After the 3 days have passed, you will be officially accepted to the program, and IGS will post the full Program Fee and Tuition/Fees to your UD student account.
- An initial payment of $1000.00 will be due in mid-October.
- The balance of the Program Fee and Tuition/Fees will be due in early January.
- Payments are submitted through My Finances in UDSIS.
- All charges, once posted to your account, are considered non-refundable.
